CVG 2011 Juried Show

Hey everybody, I know it's been a while - busy with the holidays and all. Just wanted to let you know I had a painting accepted into the annual CVG Juried show at Collective Visions Gallery. This is the fourth annual and my second time in. My entry is "Up, Up and Away". Kind of a fun piece. The show opens on February 1st with the First Friday opening on the 4th and runs through to February 27th. The Gallery will be open on Sundays during February. Hope you can make it in to see all the great art from Washington State.

Hello all! Last Tuesday I went to my monthly "class" with Bill McEnroe at Donna Trent's studio in Gig Harbor. Our "assignment" was to paint a picture using tidepools as a subject. Since I didn't have a photo of a tidepool to use I chose a picture of my girls sitting on the beach at Ocean Shores on a sunny day. Here is "Beach Buddies". Don't you wish we had sunny days like this more often?

Last weekend I took several new paintings down to Modern Villa Gallery in Cannon Beach OR. They now have eight of my original oil paintings, so if you get down that way be sure to stop in to say hello to Molly or Louise. FYI, Cannon Beach will be hosting their annual Stormy Weather Arts Festival on November 5-7 so hop on down for a weekend of fun!

What a week! A few days of recovering from the Open Studio Tour then a full day of demonstrating my pastels at the Puyallup Fair yesterday. Boy, am I pooped! I did 5 demos at the Fair and by far the most popular one was this one called “Jersey Girl”. Must be something about the eyes. I hope you like it! I had a great but exhausting time and talked to lots of people who love art. I’m all talked out!

Well, I have to say that the Open Studio Tour was successful in that quite a number of people came to see my artwork! Thank you to one and all!! It was a lot of work but very much worth it to meet so many wonderful people. After it was over, my family (9 of us) went out to dinner where I had a much needed marguerita! Yumm!

Next on the agenda: I will be at the Puyallup Fair this Thursday September 23rd demonstrating at the Art Show in the Pavilion. Hope to see you there!

Gig Harbor Open Studio Tour is tomorrow and Sunday!! I won't subject anyone to my laundry room in order to get up to my studio so I've turned my living room and dining room into a high end gallery! Come see what I have and learn all about pastels. Lots of art to choose from and a chance to see me at work. Plus free u-pick raspberries for anyone willing to brave the vines!

If you get to the Puyallup Fair this year, be sure to check out the fabulous art at the Art Show in the Pavilion near the Gold Gate. I have five paintings there, four of which (I am embarrassed to say) won awards! The awards ceremony will be held on Thursday 9 September from 6pm to 8pm. Also, on Thursday 23 September I will be demonstrating pastels at the Art Show. Stop by and say hi! This pastel portrait won Honorable Mention - Drawing.

Hi Everybody! Last Friday's Port Orchard Artwalk was great! Great weather and lots of people. Here is the pastel I did - Lutherhaven Copse. It's an area of Lutherhaven on Wildcat Lake that is no longer there - a little bit of history.

Hi Everybody! I will be at the Port Orchard Artwalk tomorrow, Friday August 20th, rain or shine (pray for shine!) I am located at Haute Salon right next to Mallory's frame shop on Bay Street. If it's icky out, I will be painting inside. If it's nice, I will be out on the sidewalk. Also, directly across the street is a new restaurant called Bay Street Bistro. Check them out because they have some of my art work on their walls (and great food besides!) See you there!

Hello everyone! Please go to www.ArtKudos.com and see my oil painting, Fallen Log, which was juried into their 2010 International Online Exhibition! This same painting also got Honorable Mention in the Oils category last year at the Western Washington State Fair.

Two new pieces, both oil paintings – Curve in the Road, 16” x 40” and Pines of Nisqually, 48” x 24”. Hope you like them!

Today I’m delivering 4 paintings to Collective Visions Gallery in Bremerton for the month of August. Then it’s off to Port Townsend to deliver a painting for the Art Port Townsend Juried Show which opens on 6 August and runs through August 29th at the Northwind Arts Center in Port Townsend WA. After that I head over to Kingston to pick up 3 paintings that were in the Kitsap Arts and Craft Juried Show (actually, one got into the juried show and the other 2 got into the open show). I received and Honorable Mention award for “Lena Lake Trail Shadows”. Keeping very busy!

This evening, 16 July 2010 from 4pm to 7pm, is the Port Orchard Art Walk. You can find me at Haute Salon on Bay Street next door to Mallory’s Picture Framing. My hostess, Katrina, is the BEST!! She is very friendly and accommodating and loves to have people come in to see my work! I will have my easel up and will be doing a demo surrounded by my originals and prints.

Also, this Sunday, 18 July from 2pm to 5pm, I will be at the Artist’s-in-Action tent at the Gig Harbor Summer Arts Festival. Come and see me and several of my fellow artists as we demonstrate our techniques in several different media. Also, Peninsula Art Leagues’ Summer Member’s Art Show will be up at Key Bank. There will be lots to see so come and say hi!

Artist's Reception

You are invited to my artist's reception at the Peninsula Retirement Community tomorrow night, 7 to 9pm. It's located in Gig Harbor across from the Good to Go office behind QFC off the Olympic Drive Exit from Hwy 16. You will see a retrospective of my pastel work and enjoy some yummy hors d'oeuvres (had to look that ......up!) from their incredible chefs. See you there!
